NPT Homes and its contractors have again made a difference in the Borough over the summer thanks to the Community Challenge Project.

St Mary’s Church in Briton Ferry, Alltycham and Rhyd-y-Fro Community Hall in Pontardawe, Alltwen and Tairgwaith Primary Schools in Pontardawe and Neath Abbey Infants School in Neath have all had improvements after applying for the project, which is now in its third year.

The initiative gives community groups or organisations across the Borough the opportunity to apply for a day of free building or maintenance work and sees NPT Homes and its contractors working together to deliver the project.
This year Warmplan installed a brand new heating system at St Mary’s Church whilst
Mi-space carried out much needed internal decoration at Alltycham and Rhyd-y-Fro Community Hall.

Spotless Recruitment worked with Alltwen Primary and Neath Abbey Infants School to transform their school yards. Alltwen Primary had its playground repainted including the painting of 35 tyres and work carried out on its flower beds, wendy house, gates and shed. While Neath Abbey Infants School received new planters and its wood chipped areas renewed and extended.

Jistcourt gave Tai’rgwaith Primary School a make-over by erecting a new canopy and fence, painting picnic tables, chairs, benches and planters that surround the playground to help brighten up the area.

Sarah Davies, Chair of St Mary’s Church Hall Committee, said:
“We were delighted to be picked to benefit from NPT Homes’ Community
Challenge. Our hall is a busy hub in the local community, not only for the parish but also for many other members of the local community. The work has made a real difference to us and I want to thank NPT Homes and its contractors for their support.”

Community Regeneration Co-ordinator Nicole Barnes, added:
“It has been great to work with our contractors to deliver the Community Challenge project for a third year running.
The next round of applications will be open in December so please keep an eye on our website and the Christmas edition of The Grapevine tenant magazine for more information.”
