First Aid course

NPT Homes is inviting representatives from junior sports teams across the Neath Port Talbot area to attend a free first aid course in the New Year.

The course which will take place on 16 January 2017 will see coaches and volunteers from a range of junior sports teams receive expert tuition that will allow them to act quickly should an emergency arise.

The course is the latest to be offered by NPT Homes which has provided seven free first aid courses over the past three years. This has enabled 107 individuals from 39 local sports clubs to receive invaluable lifesaving and emergency treatment training.

Rugby, football, dance, netball, martial arts and cycling are just some of the sports whose coaches have benefitted from the training. Amongst the clubs to have taken part in previous sessions are Ynysygerwn Cricket Club, Neath Afan Gymnastics, Bryncoch RFC and Goytre Football Club.

Speaking on behalf of Goytre Football Club, Michael Healey said:
“Goytre Football Club is pushing forward with providing the best equipped coaching personnel by encouraging them to attend the recommended courses as set out by the Football Association of Wales.

This latest course provided by NPT Homes cuts a line through some of the myths associated with first aid and provides you with the confidence to help others in times of need. It gives you a good understanding of the ABC's to save lives or prevent serious harm.”

NPT Homes’ Corporate Services Officer, Karen Neale, said: “We have had many requests over the years for sponsorship from local sports teams but rather than sponsor individual clubs we wanted to help as many as possible. We identified a demand for first aid training and have run several sessions for mini and junior team coaches over the last three years.

All sessions have been very well received so I would urge any local clubs that haven’t benefited yet to come along. All we ask in return is for clubs to mention the relationship with us on social media and invite us along to events during the year such as local tournaments.”
