Tenants begin Carbon Literacy training

Thursday 09 July 2026

A milestone moment for Tai Tarian this Net Zero Week has seen tenants join us at HQ to take part in the first module of their Carbon Literacy training.

Already more than 100 members of staff have completed the accredited training, along with representatives from Cwmpas and young people involved in our educational partnerships.

However, this was the first time the training had been offered to tenants, supporting them to gain a detailed understanding of climate change, sustainability and decarbonisation.

The course is delivered in-house by our Sustainability Lead, Mair Jones, helping participants understand not only the climate challenges we face, but also the practical actions we can personally take in our homes and communities.

Mair said:

"Seeing tenants engage so positively with the Carbon Literacy training has been fantastic. The cohort who are part of the Environment and Sustainability Tenant Voice group were really keen to expand their knowledge and better understand the challenges and opportunities around climate change."

Day one went well, with tenants showing great enthusiasm throughout the session. It was lovely to see that creating a more sustainable planet isn't just a Tai Tarian objective, but something our tenants believe in too.

A further eight learners will join the course at Sandfields Community Hub next week, while module two for our tenant cohort will take place next month.

By extending Carbon Literacy training to tenants, we're helping more people develop the knowledge and confidence to play their part in tackling climate change.
