UC customers - important information
Thursday 26 March 2026
If you receive Universal Credit and your rent is changing from April, it is important that you update your housing costs in your Universal Credit account when prompted to do so. Updating your information on time helps ensure you receive the correct housing payment.
What you need to do from 1st April
From 1st April, Universal Credit will send you a to‑do called “Confirm your housing costs”.
It is essential that you check your UC journal for this message and complete it as soon as it appears.
This step tells Universal Credit that your rent amount has changed.
Use your new rent letter to update your housing costs
We have sent you a letter with your new rent amount starting from April.
Please use the information in this letter to complete the UC to‑do before the deadline.
Submitting the correct rent details on time will help prevent delays or issues with your Universal Credit housing payments.
Help is available
If you need any help updating your housing costs or are unsure what to do, please contact your Rent Officer whose contact details are in the letter we sent you. They can guide you through each step and make sure your information is updated correctly.
